Heading to Monterrey Mexico

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

…Wise Men Still Seek Him …

…behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews ?”  Matt. 2 : 1, 2 .

It is during this time of year that we focus on the events surrounding the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As I look back over this past year there were times that I leaned on my own wisdom, understanding and abilities. I guess it’s just my “default mode” thinking “I can handle these minor details. No sense in bothering God, He has more important things to deal with.” But inevitably I am reminded through my failures to seek His wisdom. So as this year comes to a close I need to remember in the year to come if I want to be a “wise man” I too will continue to “seek Him” in all things big and small.

It seems like we were in Monterrey just a few days ago sweating in near triple digit temperatures, I can’t believe it’s the end of December and another year is coming to a close. Looking out the window now it’s a gray, gloomy day in the northeast. You just want to crawl back into bed, pull the covers over your head and go back to sleep until spring arrives. Hey! Don’t even think about it. We know our joy and reason for living comes from within and our God has prepared great things for us to accomplish regardless of what might be going on around us.

This past year was an exciting one for us, when it began we were still living in El Paso. We began visiting churches seeking those God would provide to partner with us. I was able to spend this summer in Monterrey assisting with the short term teams. It was during those summer months that God provided a buyer for our house in El Paso, enabling us to return to NJ in August. The time spent with our family, friends and home church has been very beneficial for us as we prepare for our first four year commitment in Monterrey.

I was able to put my Disaster Relief Training to work when God provided an opportunity in October for me to join a team going to Nicaragua. We set up medical clinics in two remote villages devastated by hurricane Felix. We were the first team sent in by MTW which now has sent in other teams to help the villages rebuild their homes, pray these opportunities will bring many to Christ!

For family news ~ We have enjoyed spending some time with our son Scott who is in the Air Force stationed in Maryland and his wife Rachael. Steve played soccer this fall and really enjoyed it especially since his team won the championship. He is in his senior year and really looking forward to his high school graduation. Jeffrey has really enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, cousins and his friends. Kathy will be heading to Colorado Springs on Jan. 7th for two weeks of Language Acquisition Training to help her with learning Spanish. Please pray for her and also for me as I seek the balance of support which is $2,000 in monthly pledges still needed so we can, Lord willing, arrive in Monterrey in time to help with the summer teams. We have several churches on our schedule to visit this winter but are still seeking others for late winter and early spring.

We are so grateful for you, our faithful prayer and financial supporters, for helping further the Gospel. If you have not partnered with us in prayer or financial giving, we ask that you prayerfully seek God's guidance. Ask how He might use your passion, your time, and your dollars to make an eternal impact for His Kingdom. Some of you have asked about giving via credit card. You can make a one-time, monthly and yearly gift or indicate your intention to pledge by contacting Mission to the World at partnerservices@mtw.org or 678-823-0004 ext 2451.

In Him,
