December 16, 2005

Dear, dear friends and family,

Our time of checking our Old Testament translation of portions of Job, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezequiel, and Proverbs went very well. Dick left Lima on a Monday bus with Tuf’ and Waldemar, and Roberto and I will leave this afternoon. If all goes well, it will be a 21-22 hour trip, and we have committed that to the Lord's hands. Again, the bags are packed!

Roberto and I have stayed on in Lima so he could do the taping of a revised script for a DVD we are making on "The Life of Jesus Christ" in Kashinawa. Then while we are in Nueva Luz, the man who runs the Media Department will finish up all the "putting it together work", and it should be waiting for us when we return to Lima in early February for our LAST time of checking our Old Testament translation with the consultant.

We are scheduled to fly from Pucallpa to Esperanza on Monday, December 19, and have asked for a spot on a plane that will return from Esperanza to Pucallpa between February 1 and 3. This should give us the time we need to complete what is left of the translation, revision and polishing of the shorter or "Minor" Prophets. And then on back to Lima with our co-translators for the final checking session with the translation consultant.

Then there will be just one more stay in Nueva Luz, during which time a team of Brazilian "Kaxinawá" will come to work with us and our regular team of co-translators to finalized the TWO EDITIONS WE ARE DOING, with the Peruvian alphabet for Peru and with the Brazilian alphabet for Brazil. We anticipate this will take about two months. When that is completed we will leave Kashinawaland for the last time-Yes, that will be sad! And then we will leave Pucallpa for the last time, and come to Lima to do the preparation of the manuscripts for the two editions of "Selected Portions of the Old Testament". The will be a great time of joy for us!

Please continue to pray for:

  • Strength and wisdom from the Lord for each day.
  • Protection from the attacks of Satan on the lives of all of us working on this translation and upon the Kashinawa church as a whole.
  • Good health for all of our team and their families
  • And thank the Lord for His overwhelming care of us, day after day, after day.

I would like to say with Paul, "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace."

Paul ends his letter to the Philippians, that he began with those words, saying "the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit" - Amen and amen to each and every one.

And a Merry Christmas to you all. (I will be off e-mail until early February.)

Yours in Christ's love,
Sue for Dick and Sue Montag
