News for Friends, Family, and Partners November 5, 2008 Dear praying friends, Thank you for your prayers for us over the last couple of months. We apologize for not writing sooner but due to some computer issues we were not able to get a letter out. We have been very busy during our time here in the states and we want to catch you up on what has been going on. First we are grandparents. James William McMahan was born on September 15. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. He had some difficulties at birth and wound up in the special care nursery for a few days. Then he lost a pound during the first month of life. Now he is doing much better and has gained nearly two pounds since then and seems to be going in the right direction. Pray for wisdom for William and Manda as they take care of James. Pray that James will continue to gain weight and grow as a child of the covenant.
![]() Robin and James We also wanted to give you an update on Robin’s parents who live in Galveston. They left a couple of days before Ike and when they returned to the island they found that their house made it through fairly well. Their chimney broke off at the roof line and damaged the roof but they had no water in the house. They did lose a car and many things that were in their garage but they feel blessed as they look at the damage to the rest of the island. As we have asked you in the past to pray for Whitney and Waverly’s adjustment to college and life separated from each other, we can praise God that they have adjusted well to this new phase in their life. They are making friends and doing well in their classes. Continue to pray for them that their relationship would remain close in this time of separation. We also give praise to God for a job for our daughter Wendy. Wendy will graduate from Georgia College and State University in December and already has a teaching job. She will be teaching High School Spanish starting in December. We just got back from a month on the road. We spent two weeks in Florida visiting churches both old and new. We were also able to spend a few days with Robin’s grandmother. Then we spent almost two weeks in Maryland and Pennsylvania visiting our home church and other churches. We also had the joy of catching up with many of our old friends. There were a couple of days where we had breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert appointments. We were so blessed to have so many great visits with friends. This week in Ecuador our team is hosting a vision trip. Those coming will see the work that we as a team are doing in both Quito and Guayaquil. Pray for our team and those coming that they will have a great time together learning about what God is doing through the Mission to the World team in Ecuador. We are beginning to look forward to returning in January to Quito and to see what God has in store for us. We have been contacted by HCJB to teach stewardship to more of their employees. If you remember we taught a stewardship class to their power plant employees back in the spring. We are looking forward to this and to the possibility of starting savings programs at a couple of churches that indicated interest before we left. Please pray for us as we continue to have a full schedule. We will be spending the month of November visiting churches in Georgia and Alabama. We are really looking forward to Thanks Giving when we will be having all of our children with us as well as Robin’s mom and step dad and her grandmother and her husband. We are excited to have five generations together. We thank you for your prayers and as always would love to know how we can pray for you. In Christ, Mike and Robin McMahan
