Dear Praying Friends, We just returned from a special night in Huaycan where we celebrated with the folks at Jesus El Buen Pastor their 11th anniversary, and also gave thanks for the completion of the second floor facility which will house the Cristo Salvador diaconal ministry to needy kids in the community and church. They made pachamanca, meat and vegetables cooked in an underground oven, a special meal eaten at harvest time in the mountains, and had us missionaries, Frank and Suzanne, me and Lori, cut a ribbon officially opening the second floor for 'business'. It was really sweet. The best part of all was learning after the worship service that a young woman named Miriam prayed to receive Christ during the service. God is so good, and he's building his kingdom here in Lima! I'd like to ask you to thank the Lord so much for this young girl Miriam, and to pray for her to be protected in her faith and to flourish under the ministry of the Word in the Santa Anita church plant where she will attend. Pray that she attends and that God gives her a passion for his Word and for his Church. Pray that she would become a leader in the church. Thank the Lord also with us as we finish up our EE courses this week in both Huaycan and San Juan de Lurigancho. He has given us much grace and borne much fruit through this training course, and we are so thankful for how he has blessed us and our students. Please praise him with us. And please continue to pray that our students would finish well, continue growing in their evangelism and that these two churches would continue to both train soul winners in their congregations, as well as win souls to Christ from their communities. Do praise Jesus with us for the completion of the second floor in Huaycan. We give thanks to him for the 5 work teams this summer and for the donations from folks like you to our ministries which have made this possible. Pastor Adrian expressed his thanks on behalf to the congregation to all the teams and brothers and sisters in the US who made this possible, as well as to the brothers and sisters of the Huaycan church who put in time, prayers and expertise to move the project forward. Now we'd ask for your prayers as we have our second planning meeting with the session this Saturday night to continue to hammer out the specifics of a ministry plan for the Cristo Salvador project. It's a big responsibility to take on the care of 8 children, especially those with special needs, and we need wisdom. Pray the Lord would give us one mind and lead us. Pray that Jesus would be glorified in this ministry. This week we've got a good bit of planning to do for 2005. Please pray for wisdom for our team. The other big news is that we're coming home for our home ministry assignment. We're approaching the end of our first term (4 yrs) and will be coming home for 6 months starting Dec 19, to June 19 roughly. We hope to see many of you and spend time with you while we're home. We'll have further details as the time approaches, but do know we'll be basing in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (middle Tennessee). Please pray as we put our things in storage here, move out of our house, close down ministry responsibilities, etc. here in Lima, and as we make plans Stateside. We want Jesus to lead us in all of it and make the time what he wants it to be. Your prayers are deeply appreciated for all these things. You are dear to us.
In Christ, Mark and Lori Berry
