Dear Faithful prayers, We are so thankful for you. It is a delight to write to you each month and know that you are praying for us. Happy Belated Mother's Day to many of you. We celebrated Mother's Day as well as my birthday on Sunday, May 9. We had a great day together as a family and with friends who dropped in to wish me a wonderful day. I hope your day was blessed. The Lord reminded me that he uses us mothers to share the truth with our children. It comes with great priveledge and responsibility. I am humbled as I see my own sin and also the desire God has given me to love my children well. I need God to be at work in me. Please pray for the fruit of the spirit to be visible in me. I will pray this for you as well that the Lord would give us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control as we seek to raise our children to love God. Only in the strength of Christ and a work of the Holy Spirit will this be accomplished and the great thing is, He has promised to do this in us. The work has already begun. And as the scripture says in Ezekiel 36, I am the Lord; I have spoken and I will do it...Then they will know that I am the Lord. It is The Lord who will work in us and in our children. Isn't that a wonderful promise? We are seeing the Lord work in many ways and answering your prayers. Thank you. As you continue to pray for us here are some practical ways: Mark is teaching Evangelism Explosion in two areas. In Huaycan and in San Juan de Lurigancho. After the teaching Mark, Julie and Andrew each lead a team of 3 to visit homes and share the gospel. 17 people have heard the good news and 9 have prayed to receive Christ. It is an amazing priveledge to see someone being brought into the Kindom. Please pray for follow-up with the new believers and that the Lord would grow them. The follow up is done by the local church and pray for them as they seek to walk with these new believers. We are hosting a Worship/Christ Centered Preaching conference June 11-12. Please pray for the Lord to bring pastors and lay people. Please pray for open hearts and as they come to hear the teaching of grace in worship, teaching and preaching. Please pray for the men who will be teaching, Bill Yarbrough, Scott Roley, Chip Demitri and Juan Carlos Alvarez. Please pray for the Spirit to go before this conference and have His hand on it. Please pray for the details to come together as well. The weekend of the 11th of June is the beginning of summer teams. These are short term teams from churches that come down to work with us during the summer months and of course all year round. The teams will be here anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks each. They will be working on the construction of the second story of the church building in Huaycan. The second floor when finished will be used to house 3 handicapped children who are abandoned by their parents and also to feed 8 children. The desire is to provide a safe, healthy, loving environment for the children to go before or after school. They will hear and see the love of Christ through receiving meals, tutoring, learning personal skills and responsiblities and time playing sports or just talking. Please pray for these teams as they prepare to come, while they are here and after they are gone. Pray for us as we prepare for them to come. These are great opportunities for the churches to be hands on in the ministry in Peru and we desire that each one grows in their walk with Jesus while they are here. Julie and I have begun a Bible study with 3 women in our neighborhood. This will be the 3rd week. We are studying a book on grace and basic faith elements. These women are catholic. Please pray the the Spirit of God would penetrate their hearts. That they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Pray for Julie and I, that we would lead in a gracious, loving manner all the while being sure of the truth of Christ and that would be inviting to them. We are so thankful for you. May the Lord bless you and grow you in your faith today.
