Recently, I finished reading the book The End of the Spear,
if you have not read this I highly recommend it. It is a story of a boy growing
up in a missionary family whose father was killed by spear. The tribal group
that was responsible was known as one of the most dangerous tribes in the
area. The books tells how they came to know the great love of Jesus through
this man's death. Years later the boy and his family came and lived with
this same tribe! God used him and the men of this tribe in each others lives.
Reading this story humbled me greatly. It is our prayer that God would use
our lives in ways that Glorify Him and show His great love to world.
It's Boy! Welcoming a new baby at the House of Glory
We are excited to welcome a new baby boy to our church
family. He was born in August. God provided every need for the mom and her
son. They are doing well and back living at the House of Glory. The House
of Glory has also welcomed a new mom and her baby girl, this will make three
moms with three babies. It is very sweet to visit, love and hold these precious
babies. Each week I have the privilege of teaching jewelry- making to the
moms. We have lots of fun. They are my Spanish teachers. They so enjoy
laughing at my Spanish! :) The time we spend together is very sweet.
Living in Ministry
Last Sunday one of the youth guys came up to Jim and
asked him how to play something on the guitar. Suddenly, four other guys
were surrounding him and wanting to learn. Playing music is huge here. Pray
as he is still learning his way through leading and discipling the Worship
and Youth teams. One of the men he has been growing close with and discipling
expressed interest in becoming a pastor. We are asking God to give this man
wisdom and guidance for his life. Jim also has the privilege of being a part
of the team of men who are training to lead the church. We want to praise
God for their time together last Friday; they went away to pray for the
Lord's leading for the church.
Home Front a changed heart
The other night Eli was getting books out to read
before bed. He wanted Bible story books. He turned to Jim and said, "Dad
I think I am becoming a Christian." It is so wonderful to see God at work
in him as an answer to so many prayers. I think of all of us Eli has had
the hardest adjustment moving here. We can see God working in him more maturity
and peace. I also think God is working on us as parents to be more consistent
and pointing him to the true Source of contentment. We praise Jesus for loving
our children more than we ever could.
