Johan and Stephanie van der Westhuizen #17909

Johan and Stephanie were born in South Africa, and came to know the Lord as teenagers. They both got involved in missions as young adults. Stephanie worked as a midwife in Iran while Johan did Bible distribution in Mexico, where he grew to love working with the Latin people. They were married in 1978 and spent the next eight years training South Africans in discipleship and evangelism throughout the region.

In 1985, they moved to Santiago, Chile with their three young children and began their first church, working among unreached professionals. Johan and Stephanie joined forces with MTW missionaries in 1993, and continued with church planting and leadership training throughout the Central Region. In 2001 they moved to Osorno, some 10 hours south of Santiago, where they held evangelisticÊ Bible studies, did leadership development, and made contacts into the community.

Please pray for Johan and Stephanie who are committed to training nationals to establish new works within their local contexts to see a church-planting network grow across the southern part of South America.

They have three children who live in the USA: Lycia; Lionel, married to Stephanie Young; and Brendon.
