Dear Friends and Family,
Happy New Year!
The tradition here in Peru for Christians celebrating the New Year is to have a time of worship and prayer up until the New Year and sometimes for the whole night until the morning of the 1st. What a beautiful way to thank God for His faithfulness in the past year and ask for His blessing on the new year. It keeps our focus where it should be, on our Creator and Redeemer. Of course, there are fireworks and a great party, but don't you think God loves to be invited to this kind of party?
So sorry for the delay in getting this prayer calendar to you. We had some terrible computer problems, and as most of you know, Jeremy is in the States spending time with his family as his grandmother is close to death. But now you can start your own tradition of prayer through the New Year with these prayer requests from Lima, Peru. Thank you for your patience and understanding. And thank you for praying us into 2009!
