Thank you very much for your prayers on our behalf. Here are some prayer items:
1. Pray for Caleb Dunn in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, as he endeavors to
develop a way to train leaders that are effective church planters. It
is my job to support him in this undertaking.
2. Pray for Francisco Calderon, a young man whom we (a number of
missionaries and others) trained for the ministry, and who has been
ordained now for about a year. He pastors a church in Santiago,
Chile. Pray especially as he tries to develop leadership that has a
vision for the coming of the kingdom in Santiago. The Latin American
Resource Team (of which I am the director) is partnering with him in
this endeavor.
3. Pray for the newly elected ruling elders in one of MTW's church
plants in Guadalajara, Mexico. They will officially begin to fulfill
their role in November, and this will allow the church to become a
particular church. This church was started by MTW missionaries, and
the church has been transitioning from missionary leadership to
Mexican leadership. This is always a difficult process, so your
prayers are greatly appreciated.
3. Our support account has been slowly getting better. Please keep
praying as it is not yet in great shape.
4. Pray for the data collection and analysis phase of my doctoral
studies. The data collection is being conducted in Latin America. I
have made three trips for this purpose and will make two more.
Transcribing the interviews is a very slow process and is slowing
things down. My next trip will require that I have in hand a summary
of all the data collected thus far. So I can't plan my next trip
until I have all the interviews transcribed and examined. I'm hoping
to finish everything by next summer. Please pray to that end.
5. Since we are living on Lookout Mountain, Covenant College has
asked me to teach Theology of Missions this fall. Pray that I will be
able to help the students (38 of them in my class!) develop an
increasingly Christ-centered vision of the mission of the church, and
a passion to see him glorified in all the world.
Thanks again for your support of us and the ministry the Lord has given us.
