I was in Quito from September 14th through 26th. Phyllis joined me on the 19th. I had suggested the Quito Presbytery invite Paul Gilchrist to speak on church government, and they did so. This seminar was held from the 15th through the 17th, and proved to be very helpful to the Quito Presbytery. There was an attendanced of about 40 -- mostly the leadership of the denomination.
Then Phyllis and I did a seminar on personal and cultural priority systems from a biblical perspective. This was from the 19th through the 23rd, with an attendance of about 70 each night. The seminar proved to be helpful to many people, especially in the area of growth in grace and getting along with other people. There were also some applications to church planting.
They are requesting we return in February to do conduct two more seminars on priority systems -- one focusing on marriage and the other on church planting.
The Lord has been doing some wonderful things in Quito over the last few months, and these two seminars were a culminating part of the process he used to bring about a greater sense of harmony within the Presbytery and to develop a greater sense of unity between the Presbytery and Mission to the World.
For the first time in a long time, the Presbytery feels it is ready to partner with us in reaching Ecuador for Christ.
Thanks so much for your prayers, which the Lord has been answering in great ways.
