Verónica Update

Dear Family and Friends,

We have wanted to update you on Verónica’s condition for several weeks now.  Greg and some techies finally figured out how to get our outgoing e-mail working again.

We thank you so much for your prayers.  We know that God hears every one and is a good and merciful God.

The sad news is that the doctors have given Verónica at the most 6 months to live.  We continue to pray for her physical healing knowing that were it God’s will to heal, it really wouldn’t matter how bleak the prognosis.  She is receiving quality medical care, but all the treatments she is receiving are to prolong her life, not cure her.

The really good news is that God is answering prayer with regard to their hearts.  When our Chilean pastor Alex was able to travel to Santiago to visit with her, she got right down to business with a list of things she needed to talk to him about, with forgiveness being at the top of the list.  Pepe spoke of a changed attitude in Verónica toward him after Alex had the chance to counsel with her.  Alex had spent many hours counseling this couple on marriage and forgiveness before Verónica was ever diagnosed with cancer.  For those of us who like to be “right”, we understand how hard it is to let go of hurts and injustices in order to forgive.  Unfortunately, it seems to have required facing death for them to begin letting go.  They are still separated, although Pepe visits them regularly (Isidora, their three-year-old, is now able to live at the apartment with Verónica and Verónica’s mother, as well as little Augusto – he is said to be growing like a weed).  Please continue to pray for peace and reconciliation in the marriage for as long as they both shall live.

Thank you for interceding on our behalf and on behalf of many people here in Chile.

Much love in Christ,

Marilyn and Greg Senter
