Dear Family and Friends,
Warm greetings from Osorno. We write to you all aware of the diverse circumstances many of you are living and pray that God would bless each of you as we thank Him for your partnership in the work here in the south of Chile.
The Great News
Help is on the way!!! Next month interns Dan and Jan Jenny will be joining us in our work in Osorno for about 7 months. Dan and Jan have served on three mission teams to Osorno and they along with their home church (Gospel Fellowship PCA of Valencia, PA) have partnered with our church here in extraordinary ways. They come specifically prepared to teach English as a second language, to work with the youth of our church as well as help out at a local girl's home, house/dog sit for two missionary families on leave and an assortment of other jobs that crop up that one could never actually plan for. God's sending them is quite timely (no surprise there) as we could all benefit from a fresh perspective on the field. Please include them in your prayers as they prepare their hearts, minds and suitcases for this adventure.
The not so Great News
One of the two missionary families that the Jennys will be sitting for is ours. We have our scheduled Home Mission Assignment (HMA) beginning this December through the end of February. That's actually still great news as we are really looking forward to being reunited with so many of you during those months. The challenge will be raising the significant amount of support we need in those three months. Times are changing and we are very aware of economic challenges all over the world. We have been very affected by the rise of inflation, the fluctuation in the value of the dollar and the somewhat inevitable attrition of some of our supporters and find ourselves in somewhat of a financial crunch. We are doing what we can to cut back and use wisely what has been entrusted to us, and looking for ways to make deeper cuts to help make ends meet. We trust in the God of endless resources. Our desire is to keep to our kids' schooling schedule (which is one of the main reasons we are doing a short furlough every two years during our kids' southern hemisphere summer break). From our perspective, having to extend our stay, or the girls and me having to return without Greg, would really complicate matters. Of course God is not limited by our schedules and we ask that you would join us in praying that God would reaffirm His will by providing for whatever He calls us to do.
Please see the attached letter (Senter Support Letter) from our team leader that helps give a different perspective on the ministry and the need here in Osorno.
As always, many, many thanks for all your love, support and prayers. We couldn't do it without you!
Much love in Jesus,
Marilyn for all of us
