Frank & Suzanne Matthews' Update
November 2006 |
|
Family and Friends,
Well, this is a long over due update to many of you who have so faithfully prayed for us and supported us in so many ways over the years. It has been a busy and good year in seeing God's faithfulness to us. The first 6 months of 2006 were spent in Greenville, SC in an apartment provided by a previous supporting church. It was a good time of rest and recovery for us. Frank worked almost fulltime with a landscaping business. Suzanne was able to be involved with 2 different Bible studies and was able to make many different connections with women in the area and previous friends. These relationships were essential in helping us readjust to the States on many levels. We made many trips to previously supporting churches during this time to give updates and reports of our time in Peru. We also made several trips to different churches and ministries as we prayed about where God was leading us next. Through several connections God had placed in our lives as we were leaving Peru, God opened the doors for an associate pastor position in Gainesville, Fl. We never really thought we would be living in Florida, but as we came and interviewed at the church, we certainly became confirmed that this is where God wanted us to be. So in mid July we made the move to Gator country - as Gainesville is home to the University of Florida. Frank's job is multi-focused as he is working to help organize the church and put some more structure in place as it moves forward. His current time is spent on community groups, developing the mission team, eldership training and several other odds and ends. We are both working with about 8 college students whom we have "adopted" for the year. It has be great fun to have them over and just getting to know them better. Suzanne is continuing to home school the older boys (Joshua & Micah, age 6) while giving "school work" to Aaron (age 2). We are also expecting a baby girl in a number of days. The due date is really the 23rd of December, but we will see when she shows up. The boys are all excited about the arrival of the next Matthews, but no one has offered to help with diapers yet. :-) We will try to send you some more information in the coming month or two with the arrival of the newest little one. Also, thanks for all your continued prayers about Peru as the MTW/Peruvian team continues to minister there and share the love of Christ. We would love to hear from you if and when you get a chance.
