Frank & Suzanne Matthews' Update

January 2006

Family and Friends,

We wish you all a belated MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR! We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with both Suzanne's and Frank's family. We have been living in the North Carolina Mountains at Frank's Uncle's cabin. It has been a great blessing to be here and have some time away to continue to pray and think about the future.

THE FUTURE: As we promised, we wanted to make a decision by the beginning of 2006 on what we might be doing next. Well, we cannot tell you yet what we will be doing, but we have decided that we will resign from working with MTW as of January 31st, 2006.

The time serving as missionaries in Peru has been a great blessing to us, and you have been wonderful in your support of and encouragement to us. We and the ministry in Peru are truly blessed to have had you as partners in all God has taken us through and used us to help with during our time in Peru. We could not have done it without you!

Now we are looking at churches and ministries stateside to see what might open up for us. We have no definite plans currently, but we are talking with different people and just seeing where God leads us next. It has been a process to readjust to thinking about working in the church in the US verses being a missionary in Peru. We would appreciate your prayers for our future and where God is leading us next.

"Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep His Promise." Heb 10:23

WANT TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE MINISTRIES IN PERU??

We praise God for His faithfulness in sending and having other workers in place to continue to do the work in Peru. The ministries that we were able to be a part of are still going well and soon will have more workers from the US to help alongside with the Peruvians who are currently continuing the church and children's program.

If you would like to continue to keep in touch, pray for, or financially support any of the MTW missionaries that will be working in Lima, here is a list of people that you can email and get in touch with.

BOYS' CORNER

Joshua, Micah and Aaron have had a wonderful time visiting with their grandparents, cousins, other family and friends since we have been back in the US. They have loved exploring the woods around the cabin, playing at parks close to the house and visiting libraries - things that were impossible to do while in Lima. The older boys have asked about friends in Lima and Micah especially has missed some of his favorite foods from Peru.

Aaron's personality is coming out more and more each day. He is such an easy going child who loves giving hugs and kisses, yet he also stands up for himself. He loves doing what his brothers do and is very vocal about what he wants to do and what he wants to eat (and even more about what he doesn't want to eat).

Although being home for Thanksgiving was great, we had a sad ending to the holiday as Suzanne's grandfather died that weekend. It is so interesting to see how the faith of a child works and sometimes is more vibrant than the faith of adults! That weekend, as I was talking with Joshua, he said, "We'll get to see Granddaddy again" with such surety that I thought he was confused about death. When I started to contradict him, he said, "No, Mom, we'll see him in heaven because we all know Jesus." How true and exciting to see faith lived out in the mind of a child!
