Hello to Everyone,
It has been great to be in touch with so many of you over the past several months. We really appreciate the effort you make to encourage us, and we value the relationships we have with you.
We have considered writing a new book called "Where are the Matthews?"
J
We are currently in Easley, South Carolina. We moved here after our NYC move in July and have been enjoying connecting with our church here and continuing to be close to family. God provided us with a great house with a yard to rent for 3 months while we are finishing our support raising, and Frank is studying for exams to become a pastor. We didn't even know about this house until there were only two weeks left in NYC, and we thought we were coming to Easley to live in an apartment. God is so faithful to provide for us more than we can ask or think!
We have been able to get involved at our church in SC and are enjoying being in one place for a little while. We are both involved with Bible study, prayer and fellowship groups through the church. At the same time, we have been working on details of going to Costa Rica. There are lots of odds and ends to take care of in these last few weeks. It is strange to do all our Christmas shopping now because we won't be here in December.
Needless to say, this has been a good time for us to regroup and press on as we look forward to moving to Costa Rica in November for language school. We praise God for being so faithful in taking care of us!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN PERU
As we are yet to get there, we are giving you updates through the eyes of our team members who are on the field currently serving in Lima.
This comes from
Sean Galton (an Engineer who is serving with our team for 2 years)
Ministry:
"I'm thankful for the wide-open ministry
opportunities that are before me and my team here. At
"Iglesia San Pablo", the Presbyterian church under and out of which
we are working, I am involved in developing a praise and worship team as
well as working with the young adult group in form of leading Bible studies,
discipleship, etc.
"Of the 6 or so church plants from San
Pablo, I am helping in the formation of one called Cristo El Rey
(Christ the King) which itself is about 6 months old and is located
in a poor, but relatively tranquil area of town. We have many
interested children coming to Sunday School as well as a Thursday afternoon
program that includes recreation in the park, tutoring in school subjects,
and music lessons. I had little to no experience working with children
before this, but it has been a great joy and learning process."

I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. Psalm 108:3

This is from Mark Berry, a pastor, and career missionary on our team.
Ministry:
"The next week, I had another opportunity to share the gospel to the Bible study group and God gave me much freedom and boldness and clarity, likewise in my SS class, and I was so thankful. Then, later that week, one of our core group members told me that Rita had told her that she had written her name in the sinner's prayer of the New Life booklet I'd given her, indicating that she had asked Christ to be her Lord and Savior. Then, to top off that wonderful news, that same week Rita brings a friend, Teresa, to our prayer meeting, and Teresa too, after going through the New Life book with me, likewise prayed to receive Christ into her life as well."
