May 9, 2002 - Matthews' Support Update
Hello dear family and friends! This is just a little update on how our support is at this time. We are so excited to tell you that our support is at 76% monthly and 70% one time! Praise God for his goodness in our lives. He is certainly bringing in our support! We do want to ask you to seriously pray that the rest of our support would come in by the end of July. If you know of a friend, family member, or church that you think would be interested in our ministry, we would love for you to pass on information that you have of ours. If you need more information, or if you would want us to contact them, we would love to get an email address, phone number or postal address. Thanks for being a member of our team, for praying for us as we continue on the "support trail", and for praising God with us in how He is bringing our support along! We serve an awesome God! In His grip, Frank, Suzanne, Joshua, & Micah Matthews
May 2002 Prayer Letter May 2, 2002 Hello dear Family and Friends! Here is just a little note to tell you about our Peru trip and what we are doing. We visited Peru, April 16-24, for a team meeting in order to work on the vision of our team. Our team meeting was very limited because Santos and Norma Buendia (our team leaders) had their baby girl, Karis (it means Grace in Greek) while we were in Peru! We were so excited to be able to pray with the Buendias prior to her birth and to see her! She is just beautiful! We stayed with Mark and Lori Berry and their three children. It was wonderful to connect with them again! We have not seen them for a year because they were in Language School in Costa Rica. We also were able to spend some time with the other members of our team; however, we stayed in a different part of town and were not able to see them as much as we had hoped! Our team had a good meeting with Santos, and he gave us a written version of his vision for Peru. It was incredible to see the vision that he has for his people, and we are excited about working with him to bring this to pass. We will hopefully meet once again in the fall to continue to work out the logistics our new team. This time Lima did not seem as shocking to us as it has in the past. The dirt, pollution, and poverty are there, but we were easily able to look past this and focus on the people and what God is calling us to in Peru. It is amazing how God continually transforms the hearts and minds of His people to love what He loves: His People! It was wonderful to be in Peru and we long to be with the rest of our team doing ministry there! We praise God for safety and health while we were there. This weekend we will be visiting Edgemont Presbyterian Church in Bristol, TN. Sunday, on our way back to Atlanta, we will be able to stop off to see friends from Covenant Seminary who will have just moved to Chattanooga, TN. They had a daughter almost two months ago and we will be able to see her for the first time. We are looking forward to seeing these dear friends! Next weekend, we are traveling to St. Louis, MO. We are going back for our Covenant Seminary Graduation Ceremony, May 20th (YAHOO!!) and will spend some time with close friends as well as go to our church New City Fellowship for a couple of weekends. We are very excited about finally graduating, and we praise God for His faithfulness in our lives! Thank you for your prayers on our behalf. We know that many of you are praying for us and these are the prayers that keep us going when we are tired of traveling! J The rest of the month of May we will be in Atlanta where we will continue to work on support raising. At last count we were at 63%, and we know of two more churches that are going to support us but we have not been told how much that will be. God is so faithful and we give Him all of the glory! This letter was to have been short, but it is difficult when we have such an awesome God who knows our needs and meets them more abundantly than we could ever ask or think! Thank you for your prayers for our safety and health as we travel, for our money to come in, and that in all we do God would be glorified! We love you dearly! His,
Frank, Suzanne, Joshua, and Micah
