Don and Sue were called into missions as teenagers through their home church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. After completing Belhaven College and Columbia Seminary, they went to Peru with South America Mission in 1962. God used them to establish aviation ministries in Peru and Bolivia for SAM and later in the Caribbean area with Mission Aviation Fellowship. In 1984 God led them to accept a call as missions pastor at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. In 1986 they were called by Mission to the World as Latin American Director, working out of MTW's offices in Atlanta. In 1994 Africa and the Middle East was added to Don's area of oversight. He helped develop MTW's ministry in South Africa between 1995 and 1999.

Don and Sue helped pioneer MTW's Hinterland Ministries and in 1999 they moved full time into this work of training and church planting among the Quechua Indians of the Andes mountains, as well as among the indigenous tribal groups of the Amazon jungle region of South America. Part of their job is to fill in for MTW missionaries who have left the field for a short period of time, as well as being consultants and advisors to those newly arrived on the field. Most recently, Don has acted as Team Leader and Country Director for Ecuador. Along with these overseas assignments, they represent the Hinterland ministry in churches and missions conferences to recruit personnel and raise funds for Hinterland projects. Don also does part of the administration for the Hinterland group. Now in their 44th year of missions service, they plan to remain active in this ministry for the next several years, helping and encouraging MTW personnel wherever needed.
