Carla Stevens #016848
Carla is from Lakeland, Florida and came to Christ as a young girl after a chalk-artist presented the story of five missionaries killed in Ecuador. She had always felt drawn to serve God overseas, but it was not until spending a summer in Ecuador that she decided to use her abilities to assist in the great work of spreading the gospel in a foreign land.
From 1990-98, Carla served with MTW in Ecuador. First, teaching missionary children at Alliance Academy in Quito, and then teaching English as an outreach with the church-planting team in Guayaquil. Throughout her years in Latin America, Carla has been impressed with the need for Christian education in national churches. The small Central American country of Belize sensed this same need.
Carla went to Belize in 1999 as an educational consultant to the three Presbyterian elementary schools already established, helping the national teachers develop a biblical and Reformed view of education.
Please pray for wisdom as Carla continues to come alongside the Belizeans in their efforts to raise godly children. Critical to this goal is the establishment of a Christ-centered high school in northern Belize - a task to which Carla will be dedicating much of her time.
