Anne Langhorne

Personal & Ministry Profile

Anne Langhorne discovered a passion for working with the poor and at-risk children while living in Waco, Texas and attending Baylor University. As the 19th poorest city in the US, Waco provided many opportunities for ministry to the homeless and children living below the poverty line. As she worked with kids in the projects, she developed an interest in kids at-risk in the rest of the world.

Having grown up in Miami, a cultural melting pot rich with Latin American influence, Anne was drawn to South America. She heard about the MTW Lima team through Amanda and Jeremy, who are family friends. After much prayer and consideration she decided to take a semester off of school to live in Lima and learn from the community here.

Anne was raised by two Christian parents, Trent and Richard Langhorne, and is an only child- excepting her dog, Astro. She came to know Jesus as her Savior at a young age in Sunday school at her church, but committed herself to a personal, lifelong relationship with Him while at a Camp Timberline in Colorado in 5th grade. She continued to go to camp every summer, as this was a special place marking the beginning of her spiritual journey, and eventually returned to be a counselor once in college.

After graduating from Westminster Christian School in Miami, Anne decided to go to Baylor and is now studying Philosophy and Writing. She hopes to use her gifts as a writer to inform the Church of suffering all over the world and to animate those in the Church to act. Anne will be a part of the Lima New City Team until December, working with the team in the Church and volunteering at local missions to street kids and at risk teen girls.
